one true thing

My parents met on a blind date. I believe that the story goes that my Dad's friend asked my mother out, and she said she'd go "if he found a date for her friend.." , so my Dad was employed as the friend for a friend. When they went to pick the girls up, my Dad (in a rare showing of opportunism) saw my mother, and ushered her into the backseat, and stole his buddy's date.
Nice.
I bequeath this romantic tale today because it proves the one thing I know to be true most every day.
Knowing what you want is a powerful thing.
Knowing what you want is probably more important than ever even getting what you want.
But I believe in time one begets the other.
